KURUKSHETRA : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Kurukshetra Rajkumar Saini slammed Union minister Birender Singh for his statement, in which he said that Jats are “even ready to take the status of Schedule Caste”.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the MP said that the statement of the Union minister proves that the members of a particular community are not concerned about the development of the country and they are ready to take benefits under the Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe category besides the OBC category to grab all positions in the government.

“Last year, members of a particular community had threatened the government and created violence in the state to get their community included in backward classes, now their minister is rubbing salt to the wounds of people by making claims about the SC status,” he said adding, such statements are ironical and the minister should think twice before making such statements.

He also accused Birender Singh of making claims on the rights of the backwards caste people, adding that earlier they (Jats) were fighting for OBC status, now they will fight for the SC status.
