RECRUITMENT OF ART AND CRAFT TEACHERS MADE IN 2010 WAS QUASHED IN 2015, GOVT WAS ASKED TO CONDUCT RETEST

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday stayed an order passed by a single judge, whereby Haryana was asked to complete process of re-examination for 816 art and craft teachers’ posts within three months.

The high court (HC) bench of justices Surya Kant and Sudip Ahluwalia passed the order on a bunch of petitions challenging the single-judge order, in which it was argued that the matter was already pending before the division bench.

Advocate Salil Dev Singh Bali, who appeared for one of the petitioners, said the re-examination scheduled for April 30 had been stayed. Detailed order is awaited.

The advertisement for filling the 816 posts was issued in 2006.

The selection method planned initially comprised written test and interview, but later it was changed to only interview by calling all applicants.

Finally, the selections were made on the basis of academic qualification and interview marks; the result was declared in 2010.

The recruitment was quashed in February 2015 by a single-judge bench, directing the government to carry out fresh selections.

In the 2015 order, the court had held that the criterion for the selections was “tailormade”.

Since then matter was pending before a division bench.
