SAD all set to be restructured
PARTY HAS DEPUTED SENIOR LEADERS TO HOLD MEETINGS IN THEIR ZONES AND SUBMIT LISTS OF DEDICATED LEADERS
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday dissolved the present organisational set-up of the party and decided to reconstitute it, shifting responsibilities in accordance with the performance of party leaders in the assembly polls.
In a statement, SAD secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said after the assembly elections, Sukhbir had discussions with the party leadership at different levels and felt that in order to strengthen the party from grassroot level to the top, its organsational structure needs to be reconstituted.
He said that while reconstituting the party set-up, dedicated and hard-working workers will be given due respect and those youth leaders, women and workers of different wings of the party who had participated in the poll campaign wholeheartedly will be given due representation in the party organisation.
Dr Cheema said those found guilty of indulging in activities against the party will not be given any representation in the party.
He said the party will act strongly against those leaders who would be found guilty of working against party.
He said the party has deputed some senior leaders who will hold meetings in districts of their zones within a month and submit lists of hard-working and dedicated leaders. These leaders will also look into complaints of some leaders working against the party candidates during the assembly elections.
The leaders who have been deputed zone-wise include Tota Singh for Ludhiana and Kapurthala; Ajit Singh Kohar for Amritsar, Tarntaran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot; Daljit Singh Cheema for Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr; Sharanjit Singh Dhillon for Ropar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga; Gulzar Singh Ranike for Bathinda and Sri Mukatsar Sahib; Sikander Singh Maluka for Sangrur and Barnala; Parminder Singh Dhindsa for Patiala and Mansa; Virsa Singh Valtoha for Ferozepur, Faridkot and Fazilka.
He said that these leaders will submit their reports to the party president by May 30.
