Karnal cleanest city in Haryana
KARNAL: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s home constituency Karnal is the cleanest city in the state, according to the Swachh Survekshan-2017, announced by the government in New Delhi on Thursday.
At 65th rank, Karnal has grabbed the third position after Chandigarh and Shimla, in north India. It, however, failed to make to the top 10 cities of the country.
Out of a 2,000 marks, Karnal secured 1,348 in the competition. In the last such survey in 2014, Karnal had grabbed 123 position.
KURUKSHETRA IMPROVES ITS RANKING
Lagging far behind Karnal, Kurukshetra managed to improve its ranking from 463 to 253. “We have already started working on improving the situation by launching a special drive to segregate waste and door-to-door collection,” said Kurukshetra DC Sumedha Kataria.
'PAMPERED' ROHTAK RANKS 295TH
ROHTAK : Meanwhile, the home city of CM Manohar Lal Khattar and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said to be pampered the most in previous Congress' regime, has been ranked 295th in the Swacch Survekshan report. The authorities maintained they had no idea of its previous rank.
It scored zero in solid waste processing and disposal, and capacity building efforts. The MC blamed shortage of staff and lack of planning for Rohtak’s poor performance.
