SIMRAN , A CLASS12 STUDENT OF JYOTI SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN RANI KA BAGH AREA, WAS FOUND HANGING FROM A FAN

A Class-12 student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in a classroom of a private school in the city on Friday.

Simran Kaur, a student of Jyoti Senior Secondary School in Rani Ka Bagh area, was found hanging from a fan with her dupatta in the first-floor classroom by sweeper Veena when the latter went to bolt the room after the class was over at around 11.15 am. Her school bag was found in the waiting room later.

School director Mukesh Puri said, “Like every day, Simran came downstairs along with other students to wait for her auto-rickshaw. No one knows what happened and what time did she leave her bag in the waiting room and went upstairs again and hanged herself. When it came to our notice, we immediately rushed her to a private hospital. She was struggling to breathe and was in a very critical state. In the hospital, doctors declared her brought dead.”

POLICE VERSION

Cantonment SHO inspector Sushil Kumar said no suicide note has been found and they are investigating into the matter.

Simran’s body has been sent for postmortem and the report is awaited, he added.

SHE IMMENSELY MISSED HER DEAD FATHER, SAYS MOTHER

Simran’s mother Manjinder Kaur told the police that there was no such issue or problem which could have led her daughter to commit suicide.

However, she told the SHO that Simran immensely missed her father, who died seven years ago. Manjinder, his two daughters and a son have been living with her in-laws in Islamabad area. Simran’s teachers said she was a very lively girl.

“Even today, she was quite normal all through her classes. There was nothing abnormal in her behaviour and she did not seem depressed,” a teacher said, on condition of anonymity.

“Simran had lost her father long ago. Her mother was living in a joint family. There could be some personal issues which might be troubling her,” said another teacher.

This is a second suicide case by a city student in a month’s time. Harpreet Singh, a student of Khalsa college, was found hanging in his hostel on April 24.
