Randeep Hooda visits Nowshera relief camps

JAMMU : Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda on Saturday visited the displaced villagers at a relief camp in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to media persons, Hooda, who plays Havildar Ishar Singh in his upcoming movie ‘Battle of Saragarhi’, said he visited the villagers in the relief camps to serve and express solidarity with them. Hooda is associated with an NGO, Khalsa Aid, and was in Nowshera to attend one of its outreach programmes.

“I came here with Khalsa Aid that works around the world on the tenets of Sikhism. To lessen human suffering, the organisati­on has been providing relief in more than 23 countries including Iraq, Syria, Nepal, Somalia, Philippine­s, Bosnia, among others. Since I am associated with them, I have come here,” he said.

During his visit, the actor also interacted with the people in the relief camp.

“I saw that about 4,000 people have been displaced because of shelling and firing from Pakistan. People from 24 villages have been evacuated. All of them are here in the camps and the government is helping them,” Hooda said.

Talking about the sufferings of the displaced villagers, he said leaving one’s home is always painful. Expressing shock over the loss of lives and damage to the property in the border villages, Hooda condemned Pakistan for ceasefire violations. HTC
