Was upset with sacrilege incidents, say accused
AMRITSAR: A day after the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police busted a terror module and nabbed two terror suspects along the Indo-Pak Border, one of the suspects Maan Singh,40, claimed that he was upset with the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and their was plan to act against the enemies of the holy book.
Before being produced in a local court in Ajnala, Maan Singh said, “We were angry after the sacrilege incidents. We thought to do something about the enemies of Guru Granth Sahib.”
On specifically being asked about their target, Maan Singh said, “There are lot of enemies of Guru Granth Sahib.”
The duo had come to the border to collect a consignment of arms when they were intercepted.
The consignment had come from Pakistan and was to be picked up by the duo on instructions of Canada based terrorist Gurjivan Singh.
Sher Singh, 28, when asked about plan and from where weapons came, said that he did not know where the weapons were to be used and what was the plan.
He also said that he had no knowledge about Canada based terrorist Gurjivan Singh.
“I made a mistake,” said Sher Singh. The two suspected terrorists were sent to police custody for five days by the local court. Inspector Vipin Kumar Sharma, SHO Ramdas police station said, “We are hopeful to get more details during the further investigation.” The BSF and police team recovered 5 hand grenades, one AK-47 rifle, 9 mm pistol, four 7.62 mm pistols along with magazines and about 450 cartridges.
The duo has revealed that Gurjivan Singh had been in touch with them for the past two years and had motivated them to commit terror strikes in Punjab.
They also revealed that during his last two trips to Punjab, Gurjivan Singh had imparted them theoretical training in handling arms, including AK-47 rifles.
