JALANDHAR: Leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday announced to file a complaint, against the Congress workers who allegedly thrashed a Dalit and his family in Ajnala town of Amritsar, with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC).

Holding a press conference, SAD chief whip and Adampur MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu, accompanied by former minister Gulzar Singh Ranike, Banga MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh, Dr Dalbir Singh Verka, and others told that SAD leaders are going to meet National Commission for Scheduled Castes chairperson on Tuesday.

“Dalit Kashmir Singh and his family members were beaten up and threatened by Congress workers and further police officials did not take any action against them,” Tinu alleged.

The Adampur MLA said that police officials have become puppets at the hands of Congress leaders.

Tinu alleged that the chief minister (CM)Captain Amarinder Singh had promised to end the monopoly of politicians in police stations but nothing had changed since he took over the reins of the state.

Adampur MLA targeted the Congress leader Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lali Majithia and asked the state SC commission chairman Rajesh Bagha to take suitable action against the people involved in the case.

Former Akali minister Gulzar Singh Ranike claimed in the regime of Akali Dal such incidents had not been reported ever but now atrocities on Scheduled Caste people have increased.

“Shiromani Akali Dal will hold district level protests in the entire state against the government and police officials,” the former Akali minister added.
