Haryana hikes remunerati­on of zila parishad presidents

CHANDIGARH: Haryana government has increased the monthly honorarium of the zila parishad presidents from ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 and raised the limits of a slew of perks, in a bonanza of incentives that covers the vice-presidents also.

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave nod for the hike in incentives, such as honorarium­s, travel allowance (TA), dearness allowance (DA) and mobile phone expenses, being given to zila parishad presidents and vice-presidents with effect from November 1, 2016.

The presidents of zila parishads will also be entitled to official vehicles and residentia­l accommodat­ion, a government spokespers­on said.

The vice-presidents will get ₹7,500 per month honorarium, up from ₹2,000.

The zila parishad presidents will be entitled to TA and DA equivalent to grade-I officers of the state government, while the vice-presidents TA and DA will be equal to that of grade-II officers. The presidents will also get an official vehicle—Scorpio Diesel—with the condition that journey by official vehicle will be limited to 3,000 kms per month.

Any repair and replacemen­t of wheels will be allowed at the level of chief executive officer of the zila parishad.

The presidents of zila parishads will also be entitled to residentia­l accommodat­ion in buildings of zila parishad, wherever available, on priority basis and if no such building is available, they will be permitted to hire residentia­l accommodat­ion of maximum rent of ₹15,000 per month. Earlier this limit was ₹3,000 per month.

The presidents will also get telephone both at office and residence and monthly expenditur­e of ₹1,000 for mobile phones will be allowed to both the presidents and vice-presidents.

The government will reimburse up to ₹2,000 the entertainm­ent expenses of the presidents.

All zila parishads will be authorised to purchase new office furniture, if required, subject to a maximum limit of ₹2 lakh—up from earlier ₹1 lakh limit.
