AMRITSAR:

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) demanded that Akal Takht should take action against Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh for attending the bhog ceremony of former Punjab DGP KPS Gill, on Sunday, citing that “Gill launched massive killings of Sikh youth during militancy.”

Terming Gill, who died of kidney failure in a Delhi hospital on May 26, as a “perpetrator” of atrocities against Sikh community, former MLAs and senior Akali leaders Virsa Singh Valtoha, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Vir Singh Lopoke, Harmeet Singh Sandhu and Ravinder Singh Brahmpura said they will move Akal Takht with written complaint against chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and another Congress leader Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, who accompanied him.

Involving radicals’ Sarbat Khalsa-appointed jathedars in the issue, Valtoha asked them that why they are silent on the issue and why are they not taking action against Captain.
