In HP, Rajnath exhorts party workers to rout Cong
HAMIRPUR :Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday launched a frontal attack on the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, calling it one of the weakest governments in the state since Independence. He also exhorted party workers to rout the opposition party from power in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections.
While addressing booth level workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) drawn from all 17 assembly segments of Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat here on Sunday, Singh said Congress had failed on all fronts all over India and he was sure that the people of Himachal would oust it from power.
Singh lauded the role of the people of Himachal Pradesh in safeguarding the borders of the nation from intruders and neighbouring countries. He asked party cadre to remain disciplined and united.
Singh said that the BJP’s character was to serve the people of country and not betray them at the cost of winning the elections.
He reiterated that terrorism had receded in all parts of the country and forces were on alert round the clock to wipe out militancy.
Singh laid the foundation stone of a high-tech office of the district unit of the party here.
Union health minister JP Nadda, former CM of Himachal Prem Kumar Dhumal, state BJP chief Sat Pal Satti and party in-charge for state affairs Mangal Pande were present at the event.
Nadda dubbed the rule of the Congress government in the state as “one of the darkest periods” since Independence. He claimed that whenever the BJP came to power, the pace of development accelerated and there was equal development throughout the state.
Nadda accused chief minister Virbhadra Singh of indulging in corruption and spending most of his time in getting bails from courts, rather than working for the well-being of the masses.
Satti, meanwhile, made a strong call to make Singh as the party’s star campaigner for the state in the wake of the coming Vidhan Sabha elections. He said that whenever Singh came to Himachal Pradesh, the party won the elections and formed its government.
