: A 25-year-old woman from Nepal was allegedly molested by a house owner of Nirvana Country, an upscale residential society in the city, on Tuesday.

According to her complaint, the accused, Rajkumar of Tigra village, asked her over to his place on the pretext of giving him a job and touched her inappropriately.

The accused, said sources, is a friend of the victim’s husband. The victim was also known to him. A complaint was lodged at the women’s police station under Section 354 D (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The victim’s husband had earlier requested the accused to find her a job.

“We have received a complaint and the investigation is on,” Manjusha, a sub-inspector at the women’s police station, said.

With the city already having courted infamy over the rise in cases of crime against women, the police has pledged to act swiftly in the case and bring the accused to book.

On May 24, a 25-year-old woman from Darjeeling claimed that she was molested works as a nurse at a house located on Sohna Road.

The woman, who stays at Madanpur in Sector 8, was returning from work around 7pm when an unknown person on the road touched her inappropriately.

She was unable to see the man’s face clearly as he ran away after touching her, she told the police.

Even as an FIR was filed at the Shivaji Nagar police station, the cops failed to identify the accused. The area where the incident took place isn’t well lit and neither does it come under CCTV coverage, the police said.

On May 14, a 26-year-old woman from Sikkim was gangraped by three men in a moving car after she was kidnapped near Sukhrali village in Gurgaon.

The victim, who lives as a paying guest in Sector 17, told the police that she returned from New Delhi in a cab around 2am and was abducted and dragged into a car while she was walking back to her place.

On February 20, an assistant professor from Meghalaya teaching in a Delhi college was allegedly molested by an autorickshaw driver while travelling from Huda City Centre to her residence in Sector 51.

In another development, the family members of an alleged rape victim from Pataudi met the deputy commissioner of Gurgaon, Hardeep Singh, on Thursday and threatened to commit suicide if the police fail to take appropriate action against the accused at the earliest.

The father of the victim alleged that though the incident took place on May 14, no action has been taken till now by the police.

Tanya Singh, ACP, Pataudi, said that on May 15, the case was registered and it is being investigated.

“As there are some missing links in the complaint that we received, we are trying to validate the claims,” Singh said.
