FEARING THE ACCUSED WOULD SEND MORE SUCH VIDEOS, THE GIRL DISABLED HER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

A college student on Tuesday received obscene videos twice on her WhatsApp account from an unknown number.

After she informed her parents about the videos, the family members of the victim filed a complaint regarding the incident to Palam Vihar police station. Fearing the accused would send more such videos, the victim also disabled her social media accounts and deleted her WhatsApp messages.

The student also provided the mobile number from which she had been getting the obscene videos. Police said the mobile phone, which was used for the crime, had been stolen from its owner.

A case has been registered under section 354D (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“We will nab the culprit soon. We are trying to track the mobile call modulation and find out more regarding the phone from which the videos were sent. Our investigation is on. We suspect personal enmity in this case,” said Parveen Malick, station house officer, Palam Vihar.

The police has also sought the help of the cyber cell to track down the location from where they were sent.

On March 7, the police had arrested a man for sending lewd videos to a woman. The man, a father of two, was working in the same company as the victim.
