Three women among 14 drug peddlers arrested in Jalandhar

The anti-narcotics cell of rural police arrested three women drug peddlers from separate locations in Phillaur on Saturday. 60 kg poppy husk was recovered from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Gurdev Kaur ,55, of Kakowal village in Ludhiana, Kashmir Kaur ,45, of Langroya village in SBS Nagar and Sandeep Kaur ,39, of Selkiana village of the district.

The three had brought the contraband from Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh and were selling ₹5,000 per kg .

In another incident the city police arrested the five accused involved in selling illegal weapons and cartridges and seized three revolvers along with 17 live cartridges on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh , Sandeep Kumar , Jagjeet Singh , Kuldeep Kumar and Harwinder Singh.

The cops have recovered two .32 bore revolvers, .315 bore pistols and 17 live cartridges from them. A case under IPC and Arms Act has been registered.

In another incidence, Farooq Ahmed Khan of Bhagat Singh Colony in Ludhiana was arrested with 500 gm opium.

The CIA wing and Goraya police arrested four criminals and seized one pistol, live cartridges and intoxicant powder .

The accused have been identified as Harjinder Kumar (26), Pardeep Kumar (29), and Pankaj Kumar (27) and Harpreet Kumar (31) .

The joint teams seized one illegal.315 bore pistol, two live cartridges, two sharp-edged weapons, four bikes,four mobiles and 300 gm intoxicant powder.

In another case, Gurpreet Singh Gopi (31) of Dhaliwal village was arrested for snatching a mobile from a cable operator.
