AMRITSAR DOC OPERATES UPON WRONG LEG OF 3YROLD GIRL

AMRITSAR: A three-year-old girl suffered due to negligence of the negligence of the city railway hospital authoritie­s located at Railway Colony on Thursday. Niyati Daggar’s family had alleged negligence on the part of the hospital authoritie­s as the concerned doctor operated upon the left leg of the child instead of right leg, which had a minor issue.

She underwent the correct surgery on Friday.

The girl’s father Vipin Dagar, a railway employee and homemaker mother Poonam Dagar had visited the hospital for getting their daughter treated as she faced difficultl­y in walking.

The family alleged that the ortho doctor Dr Devinder Singh operated upon the her wrong leg.

Following the incident a protest was carried out which was led by All India SC-ST Railway Employees Associatio­n demanding action against the concerned hospital as well as the doctor.

Associatio­n’s divisional president Bharat Bhushan said, “The associatio­n will not leave this issue. We have written to the higher authoritie­s informing about the entire episode.”

“Presently the child is being operated upon at a private hospital and the accused doctor has accepted his mistake,” he added.

Ashok Sahni, in-charge of railway hospital said, “It is unfortunat­e that this happened. Action will be taken against the guilty. We will be careful in future. ” HTC
