: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences vice-chancellor on Saturday asked principals of all medical, dental and nursing colleges to refrain from charging extra fee from the shifted Gian Sagar Medical College students for the current year.

Faridkot varsity vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur said the warning was issued after the students complained of colleges, where they have been shifted, seeking extra charges from them.

“The shifting was a damage control move where the state government wished to address agony of students without extra charges of any sort,” said the vicechancellor.

The vice-chancellor stated: “If we follow the instructions of the Punjab and Haryana high court, we shall be able to avoid further litigation as it will apparently amount to contempt of court.”
