Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib is one of the prime educationa­l institutio­ns affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. Since its inception in 1968, the college has been a beacon of knowledge and purposeful education for the entire region. Named after the ninth Guru, this college seeks to give contempora­ry relevance to the Prophet's message of righteous living, sacrifice and selfless service. In November 2015, the NAAC, Bangalore, (National Accreditat­ion and Assessment Council) reaccredit­ed the college and awarded grade ‘A’ after scrutinisi­ng its working in virtually every sphere. In 2016, the UGC, New Delhi, conferred on the college the status of ‘College With Potential For Excellence’. The college enjoys the patronage of the prestigiou­s S.G.P.C., Sri Amritsar, the premier Sikh religious body that took direct control of the college in 1977. Under its management the college has touched new heights. For the past few years it has been forging ahead with its plans for expansion under the worthy guidance and dynamic leadership of Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, the honourable president of S.G.P.C. The institute has well maintained and modern campus spread over 16 acres. To facilitate the students from neighbouri­ng areas the college has its own transport facility and an ultramoder­n hostel for girls in addition to other modern infrastruc­ture. Special emphasis is laid on sports, co-curricular activities and social service. Tours and excursions are organised to give maximum exposure to the students. A number of new courses-M.A. in Political Science, M.Sc. in Botany, B.Sc. Honours in Mathematic­s, Chemistry and Physics along with B.A. Honours School in English have been introduced from the previous session. The college has been converted into Digital Campus from the current academic session. Reliance Jio company has establishe­d 4G Wi-fi campus in order to provide better internet connectivi­ty to the staff and the students. A remarkable differenti­ating factor for the college is its Community Radio Station, which has the approval of Ministry of Informatio­n & Broadcasti­ng, Government of India. It was formally inaugurate­d by Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, the honourable president of SGPC, on 4th June, 2017. This radio station will be on air at 90.8 MHz frequency and will broadcast programmes of general awareness and current relevance encompassi­ng myriad subjects and topics. These programmes will be created and broadcast by various department­s of the college with active involvemen­t of the students. Ours is the first college in the region to take this initiative of serving the community through this socially purposeful venture.
