Only if you walk in another person’s shoes will you know where it pinches

It is easy to think that others are simply making excuses or are lazy and careless; hence their work seems to lack effort. We often draw our own conclusions about the behaviour and actions of others. Instead, we must try and find out what ails a person. We value self-importance so much that we don’t realise that someone could be facing a situation beyond their control.

One morning, a man’s domestic help failed to turn up on time. The household chores were left undone. When he finally arrived, the man began to reproach him to which the informed that he had lost his daughter the previous night.

Here’s another story: A rich man’s son was lying on the surgeon’s table. The surgeon walked in seriously and completed the task with no word to the father. The man found the conduct of the doctor rude. The nurse told him that the doctor had returned for the funeral of his son who had been party to the same accident in which the rich man’s son was injured.

The same goes for people who may seem to be uncivil and impolite, as if they are ignoring us, but if we take the trouble to find out, the story may be something else. Thus before passing judgment on others’ actions, let us face the facts first.
