Suicide bomber strikes civilians fleeing Mosul
MOSUL: A suicide bomber blew himself up among civilians fleeing Mosul’s Old City on Friday, where Iraqi forces are gaining ground against jihadists mounting a fierce but desperate defence, officers said. “We received 12 people killed and more than 20 wounded in our field hospital, including women and children,” Ahmed Hashem, a major and medic in the Iraqi army, said. A colonel said it was difficult to get a definitive toll because the area where the attack happened was not fully cleared.
BRUSSELS: A Belgian court has found a princess from Abu Dhabi and her seven daughters guilty of mistreating around 20 servants forced to work for them in a plush Brussels hotel. The court found the eight princesses guilty of “human trafficking and degrading treatment,” handing down 15-month suspended prison sentences and fining them £165,000.
