Srini to come out all guns blazing on ICC revenuesharing model

Former Indian cricket board president N Srinivasan is expected to come out all guns blazing during Monday’s Special General Meeting (SGM) of the BCCI here.

Srinivasan, who will attend the SGM as executive member of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), is expected to make his observations on the revised ICC revenue model, which was approved a few days ago. The BCCI’s share has been cut to $405 million after the ‘Big Three’ arrangement, which was Srinivasan’s brainchild, was dismantled.

During Sunday’s meeting with the Committee of Administrators (CoA), Srinivasan gave glimpses of what could be expected on Monday. “When the CoA brought up the topic of the BCCI finally agreeing to the revised ICC revenue, Srinivasan made it clear that he has a few things to say, which he will in the SGM and not in front of the CoA,” a source told HT.

The meeting between CoA and representatives from West, South and Central zones was over in 15 minutes, while the meeting with the North and East zones went on for nearly an hour. The BCCI had authorised acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary to negotiate with the ICC on the revenue model.

Srinivasan is also likely to take the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) issue with the BCCI after outstation players were barred from participating in the T20 league. The CoA once again tried to convince the state units to adopt the Lodha Committee report as much as possible during the SGM. During Monday’s SGM, the members will once again deliberate on contentious issues such as one-state-one-vote, nineyear tenure at the state and BCCI, cooling-off period and three-selector policy. The age criteria is not much of a concern now, said CoA member Diana Eduljee.

The CoA has also submitted revised rules on conflict of interest for the BCCI members to deliberate on at the SGM. Although the Virat Kohli-Anil Kumble saga is not on the agenda, there are high chances of members raising questions on what actually transpired.
