INDIA WAITS TO SEE IF US WALKS THE TALK

Counter-terrorism cooperatio­n and mention of Pakistan are takeaways that would also get Modi traction among the domestic constituen­cy. What remains to be seen is how far the Trump administra­tion will go in nudging Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday invited Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump to India, to lead the US delegation of entreprene­urs.

An American businesswo­men and former fashion model, Ivanka Trump is also an assistant to her father.

“I have invited her (Ivanka Trump) to lead the US delegation for global entreprene­urship forum,” Modi said while jointly addressing the media with Trump following delegation­level talks between the two sides.

The Prime Minister said that Ivanka Trump has accepted the invitation.

Modi also invited President Trump and his wife Melania Trump to visit India. “I would like to invite you to India, along with your family. And I hope that you will give me the opportunit­y to welcome you and host you in India,” Modi said in his remarks, standing along side Trump at the White House’s Rose Garden.

Meanwhile, defining himself and Prime Minister Modi as ‘believers’, Donald Trump said “Prime Minister Modi and I are the believers... India has fastest growing economy and we will catch you soon,” Trump said.

Trump repeatedly thanked Modi for visiting the United States and the White House, saying he enjoyed their “very productive conversati­on”.
