Sampla accuses Hoshairpur DC of deliberately missing Disha meeting
CHANDIGARH: Union minister Vijay Sampla claimed that the District Infrastructure Scheme Advisory Committees (Disha) meeting of Hoshiarpur district had to be postponed on Tuesday after the deputy commissioner chose to miss the meeting.
Sampla, notified Disha chairman, said that the meeting was to be held at the additional deputy commissioner of Hoshiarpur’s office.
The deputy commissioner (DC) is supposed to convene the Disha meeting.
“Earlier also, on June 21, a meeting of Disha was postponed as DC Vipul Ujjwal showed inability to attend it in view of the Punjab assembly session,” Sampla said.
“I came for today’s meeting at sharp 11 am, but the DC was not present. I postponed the meeting due to the DC’s irresponsible behaviour,” he said. However, Ujjwal, also member secretary of the committee, claimed he was at the venue for five minutes but had to leave in between due to a personal emergency.
“I returned at the venue after 10 minutes but by that time the minister had left,” Ujjwal said. The DC said he spoke to the minister and the matter was sorted out and the meeting will now take place at a new date. However, the minister claimed that the DC was busy in inaugurating ‘Sanjhi Rasoi’ and deliberately chose to miss the meeting. The Disha meeting is held at least once in every quarter to review programmes of the Centre as per the implementation plan and time frame. “The previous quarter meeting of Hoshiarpur district had also not taken place,” Sampla said.
