HAFIZ SAEED

A resident of Lahore in Pakistan, Saeed is the founder of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, responsibl­e for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and several other acts of terrorism. Designated terrorist in 2008.

MASOOD AZHAR

Is the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammad, which was behind the 2001 attack on Parliament. Heads Al Rehmat Trust, a charity organisati­on that collects donations for terrorist activities. Designated terrorist in 2010.

SHAFI ARMAR

Described by US as the head recruiter in India for ISIS. A native of Bhatkalin Karnataka and a former Indian Mujahideen member, he has tried to recruit IS sympathise­rs in India.

SAJJID MIR

Was in charge of LeT’s external ops. Played key role in 2008 Mumbai attacks. Considered handler of David Headley. Was Lakhvi’s personal secretary. Designated terrorist in 2012.

DAWOOD IBRAHIM

The so-called D Company chief is accused of mastermind­ing the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and lives in Karachi. Designated global terrorist in October 2003, and Significan­t Foreign Narcotics Trafficker by US three years later.

ZAKI-UR REHMAN LAKHVI

Born on December 30, 1960, Lakhvi is an Afghan war veteran who was known as the operationa­l head of LeT. Directed its operations in Chechnya, Bosnia, Iraq and Southeast Asia, according to Designated tr in 2008.

SYED SALAHUDDIN

The 71-year-old chief of Hizbul Mujahideen is the latest entrant to the list. Unsuccessf­ully fought J&K assembly elections in 1987.
