Sketches of two suspects released

The Amritsar (rural) police released sketches of two suspects on Thursday, likely to be involved in robbery and murder of a private company manager, on National Highway-1 on Wednesday.

Unidentifi­ed persons shot dead 42-year-old Inder Singh while attempting to rob him. The police have made the sketches based on informatio­n by eyewitness. It is learnt that one of the suspects was covering his face with a saffron coloured cloth and the other with a white cloth.

The victim was shot when he was coming in his car towards Amritsar from Manawala on late Wednesday evening. Inder Sharma had gone there to collect money from petrol pump.

A car reportedly chased the victim’s car with an intention to loot him.The suspects opened fire and one bullet hit Sharma’s neck.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but died midway. The exact money stolen is yet to be clarified but as per sources around ₹10 lakh was taken while police refuted the claims saying ₹4 lakh was taken.

The entire Border Range has been put on alert as it was claimed by sources that the suspects came in a Swift car.

Police are also scanning the CCTV cameras at the toll plazas and other important location around the incident site.

SSP Amritsar (rural) Parampal Singh said, “Ever since the incident took place, the police are on toes and working on multiple angles to crack the case. Police teams have been formed and eye witnesses are being interrogat­ed. We will soon nab the suspects.”

A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered. The case has been registered at the local Chattiwind police station.
