LIFE IS A GIFT, SHARE IT WITH OTHERS

- Ranjan Kapoor Innervoice@hindustantimes.com

The other day, I watched a video in which cine star Manisha Koirala was seen paying glowing tribute to the virtue of sharing. Koirala got hit with cancer and spent three long years in a cancer hospital. There, she underwent a number of experiences ranging from physical trauma to spiritual exhilaration. What made Koirala realise that life was a gift and it needed to be shared with others was her philosophical encounter with a lady doctor who used to visit her once in a week despite her not being on the panel of physicians deputed to treat her.“You are not my physician; nor are you my fan. Why do you pay me a regular visit?’’ asked Manisha once to the lady doctor. “I visit you to offer you hope ; and I strongly believe that you would do the same for those who are in distress, once you move out of this hospital ,’’ answered the lady doctor.

It was a fantastic revelation for Manisha. This life is a gift and the only way to share it with others is to spread hope. Hope sustains life. A dying man catches a straw of hope and it gives him a toehold to balance his life in the whirlpool of despondency . But, the big question is how hope can be generated for a sad soul. Little acts of selfless service bring cheers and hope on the face of a loser adding bright colours in his otherwise dull life. (Inner Voice comprises contributions from our readers.
