PATNA:RJD president Lalu Prasad and his family seem to be busy performing religious rituals and seeking astrological remedies, apparently to tide over the ‘difficult times’ they face at present.

Allegations of dubious financial deals have recently been levelled against Prasad’s family and the reopening of the fodder scam cases, in which the RJD chief is an accused, has only added to trouble. On Saturday, nine priests were reportedly called to Prasad’s 10, Circular Road, house to recite Sunderkand, a chapter in Ramcharitra Manas, to invoke Lord Hanuman and seek his blessings to overcome obstacles and ward off any negative vibe.

The priests, seen going in with harmonium, dholaks and other music instruments, confirmed they had been called to recite the Sundarkand.

But Prasad’s close aides denied any such religious event at his house. “No, we have not organised any such religious event,” one of them said.

Prasad’s elder son and health minister Tej Pratap, has also been doing his bit to propitiate gods. Having visited the pilgrimage town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh and various temples at other places, Tej Pratap is said to have made structural changes at his official bungalow, 3 KG Marg, after BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi accused him of opening a petrol pump without following norms.
