TARNTARAN:Police have arrested proclaimed offender (PO) Sucha Singh who was wanted in a 2013 case of 19-kg heroin seizure made by since-dismissed CIA inspector Inderjit Singh, who himself is now in police net after a haul of drugs and ammunition was recovered from his house.

Inderjit was held last month after an AK-47, 4-kg heroin and ₹16 lakh were recovered from his official quarters at Phagwara in Kapurthala where he was posted.

Sources said that fresh recovery of 10-kg heroin has been made from Sucha Singh but no senior official confirmed this. Even the daily diary report (DDR) of the police mentioned only Sucha’s arrest and not drug recovery.

Sucha, from Shaheed village in Patti, was booked after the probe of the then CIA inspector Inderjit in a case at the Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran in 2013.

After the heroin seizure, the police had claimed three BSF troopers’ involvement in drug smuggling across the border.

That case was registered on the basis confession by Rashpal Singh who was also arrested in a drug case. Inderjit Singh had interrogated Rashpal who disclosed the complicity of Sucha.

Rashpal, as per the FIR, had told police that he, with Sukhraj Singh, Ranvir Singh and BSF troopers Gurprest Singh, Bikram Singh and Gurwinder Singh, had received 159 packets of heroin from Pakistani smugglers on the border by using Pak mobile phone and SIM cards. Sucha has been absconding since.

In October 2013, the then Tarn Taran SSP Rajjit Singh had briefed the media about the police’s success. Rajjit is now Moga SSP and was questioned for nearly three hours on June 18 by
