Gang of thieves busted in Bathinda, 5 arrested

BATHINDA: The police have arrested five members of a gang of thieves and recovered ₹2 lakh, 180 gm stolen gold ornaments, 550 gm silver, a .32 bore revolver, two .12 bore country-made pistols, a .315 bore country-made pistol, 12 live cartridges, one LCD and a laptop from their possession. Accused Rohit Victor, Ishwar Das, Vijay Kumar, Amit Kumar and Manpreet Singh were arrested on Monday while two of their accomplices Gurpreet Singh and Ashu are yet to be nabbed. All arrested accused face cases against them. Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla said the accused were arrested while they were travelling in a car near Bathinda Improvement Trust’s office here. The accused had allegedly looted ₹3.96 lakh from a courier company’s office in Model Town last month. They had also injured a man by opening fire at him in Partap Nagar on July 12.
