-

TWO OUT OF THREE POSTS FOR SANITARY INSPECTORS HAVE BEEN LYING VACANT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS

BATALA: As the civic authorities have turned a blind eye towards the sanitation conditions of the industrial town, residents here continue to suffer.

Even though, the municipal council has assigned the work of sweeping and lifting the garbage on contractual basis to a private contractor but heaps of garbage can be seen across the city.

The municipal council is spending more than ₹25 lakh per month on the cleaning process. Garbage piles have not been removed from several places since last many days leading to emission of a foul smell .

The worse hit is the area near Khajuri Gate town, where the garbage has started floating into the shops and residences of the nearby people due to the rain.

Municipal council executive officer MS Rand haw a, said ,“Earlier the dumping ground was filled with water but it has been drain now using water pumps. Within next couple of days, the entire garbage will be cleared from the city.”

Interestingly, there are three posts of sanitary inspectors, supposed to keep a check on the work of the private contractor. Two out of three posts have been lying vacant from last couple of months, affecting the sanitary conditions. Few days back, SD M Batala Rohit Gupta went to Gandhi Camp locality and ordered the council authorities to ensure proper sanitation in the slum locality. But the condition in the slums has not changed yet.
