Slain forest guard’s grandmothe­r to get his salary: HP govt

SHIMLA: The Himachal government on Monday said it would give full salary of the slain forest guard Hoshiyar Singh to his grandmothe­r HirdiDevi, during her lifetime, as a special case.

The decision was taken keeping in view the“exceptiona­l circumstan­ces” of the forest gu ar d’ s death when he was posted in the Kat and a forest beat in Man di district, an official statement said.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting presided over by CM Virbhadra Singh.

Ho shiy ar Singh ,22, went missing on June 5 and was found hanging from a tree in a forest in Mandi district on June 9.

His family members alleged that he was ‘killed’ by the forest mafia.

OTHER DECISIONS

The cabinet further decided to implement the Market Interventi­on Scheme( MIS) for procuremen­t of apple crop in 2017 on the analogy of previous years to provide remunerati­ve price to the fruit growers in the state. It is estimated that 10%(55,849 metric tonnes) of the total production will be procured under MIS by government agencies. The procuremen­t price was increased from ₹6.50 to ₹6.75 per kg.

The cabinet also approved a grant of ₹120 crore to the Him ach al Road Transport Corporatio­n for clearing pension liabilitie­s besides giving nod to filling up of posts of environmen­t science lecturer sin government colleges where student enrolment is 1,000 or more.

It also approved introducin­g education as a subject at the under-graduate level in 13 government colleges in the state along with creation and filling up 13 posts of assistant professors in the said subject on contract basis.The government also decided to fill about 3,000 posts in department­s, including 2,000 posts of para medical staff and family welfare department on contract basis and 17 vacant posts of assistant professors in the Ind ira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla and Tanda Medical colleges through direct recruitmen­t.

The cabinet gave its approval to repair village roads under Mukhya Mantri Rural Road Repair Scheme, for which a provision of ₹20 cr ore has been made under the MN RE GA component.
