RENEWING TIES

Ravi Shastri, back as India head coach, has persuaded the BCCI to give him the support staff of his choice as India set off on a full tour to Sri Lanka.

SANJAY BANGAR (Assistant coach)

The former India and Railways all-rounder has been part of India’s coaching staff from August 2014 when Duncan Fletcher was coach and Ravi Shastri director. The 44-year-old, who handled the team on the recent West Indies tour, has been elevated from batting coach to assistant coach.

BHARAT ARUN (Bowling coach)

He was India’s bowling coach in 2014 when Ravi Shastri was team director. The India team was without a bowling coach during Anil Kumble’s tenure as head coach of the team. With Shastri back in charge, Arun returns to manage India’s pace battery with the team slated to play overseas.

R SRIDHAR (Fielding coach)

The 47-year-old former Hyderabad cricketer was part of the India support staff since 2014. When Kumble took charge of the team, he retained Sridhar, who missed just one West Indies tour in between in 2016, when Abhay Sharma went as fielding coach. Shastri has retained Sridhar as fielding coach.
