Actor suicide: Assam CM Sonowal dials father, says justice will be done

GURGAON: Actor Bidisha Bezbaruah, who committed suicide in Gurgaon on Monday, not only held a lot of promise in showbiz but was also a masters in English from Cotton College in Guwahati. She also held a degree in mass communicat­ion from a prominent Delhi institute.

After acquiring her mass communicat­ion degree, she joined an advertisin­g firm as an accounts executive. It was here that she met Nisheeth Jha, her husband.

Bidisha was found hanging in her apartment on Monday evening. Acting on complaint filed by the actor’s father, Aswini Bezbaruah, Sushant Lok police booked her husband for abetment to suicide.

Before joining the advertisin­g firm in Delhi, Bidisha had attained fame in Assam as a talented actor and singer. She also a popular anchor on several television channels and worked as a radio jockey as well. She also featured in the recently released film Jagga Jasoos, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

Her death came as a shock for not only her friends and relatives in Delhi, but also her fans in Guwahati and across Assam.

The popularity of the actor could be gauged by the fact that Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal called her father on Monday.

“The chief minister told me that justice will be done,” Aswini Bezbaruah, her father.

Bidisha’s family members said she was introduced to Nisheeth at the Delhi advertisin­g firm in June 2014 and the two soon grew close.

“Nisheeth washer immediate boss. Although he joined another firm in Mumbai after three months, they kept in touch. They dated for a year and in August 2015, he proposed her,” her father said.

Although the entire family was against this marriage, they yielded to her wish as she was adam anton marrying Nishee th. The engagement ceremony was held in Vadodara and the couple moved to Mumbai after marriage.

Her husband’s family is settled in Vadodara, but they hail from Bihar. Jha’s father was an employee at ONGC and lives in Vadodara after retirement.
