Two cops attacked in Kapurthala

KAPURTHALA: The Boot village, labelled as ‘village of drug addicts’, in Kapurthala district is once again under police radar, this time for attacking a police party and tea ring uniform of two head constables in the village.

As per informatio­n, the police post-head con stable( HC) Jasleen Singh and HC Vijay Kumar accompanie­d by a police team raided the village on Monday to nab accused involved in a theft case. The police officials raided the village to arrest five persons identified as Udhay Sing hand his four sons Balwant Singh, Kulwant Singh, Lakhbir Singh and Balwinder Singh, booked in a theft case.

When the team raided his house, accused and his sons attacked cops. During the scuffle accused to re uniform of cops J as- le en and Vi jay. Accused managed to flee, police said. One accused, Udhay, was arrested on Wednesday. Police said that the accused were booked in a theft casein 2016 and police had received a tip off that they were in the Boot village. Deputy superinten­dent of police( D SP) G ur meet Singh said that the police teams are conducting raid sand the accused will be held soon .“We have arrested the main accused and his sons will also be nabbed soon ,” D SP added.

The village has recorded 47 first informatio­n reports (FIR) under the ND PS Act, most from a single village, in 2014 across the state.

In 2016, the village had registered 18 FIRs under NDPS Act and 22 FIR sf rom the village have under the NDPS Act been registered till now.
