Portrait of Nawab Rai Kalha installed at Sikh museum

AMRITSAR: The portrait of Nawab RaiK al ha to whom Guru Go bind Singh blessed with his “Ganga Sagar” (traditional copper urn of the 17th century), kirpan and other items, found place in the central Sikh museum at the Golden Temple here on Monday.

The painting on which Guru Gobind Singh was seen handing over ‘Ganga Sagar’, was installed in the museum and unveiled by the Akal Takht ja the dar GianiGu rb ac han Singh along with Golden Temple head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh.

Remembering Nawab Rai Kalha, who was a devout Sikh of Guru Gobind Singh at that time, Giani Gurbachan Singh said the painting would inspire the Sangat to stay dedicated toward the Guru and render selfless ser- vice.

For installing the painting, Kalha’s successor and Pakistan’s former member of Parliament Rai Aziz Ulha Khan also sent a letter thanking the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

The Indo-Pak peace activist Sat nam Sing hM ana k and Shiromani Gurdwa ra Parbandhak Committee member Jagjit Singh Talwandi handed over this letter to additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhura Kohna.

The family of Kalha still has relics of the 10th Sikh Guru and former member of Parliament of Pakistan has brought the sacred Ganga Sagar to India.
