Immolation bid by killed drug smuggler’s kin foiled

BATHINDA: Police on Tuesday foiled a self-immolation bid by family members of ‘drug smuggler’, Vinod Kumar alias Monu Arora, murdered at Bhagi Wander village on suspicion of supplying drugs. Accusing the police of not doing enought to arrest 10 of 13 accused, family members blocked the Talwandi Sabo-Bathinda road. Monu’s mother, Soma Rani, and his two sisters poured kerosene on themselves during the protest with a motive to self-immolation. However, cops on duty snatched the matchstick boxes.
