Virbhadra, Vasundhara Raje call on Captain to condole Rajmata’s death
PATIALA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh and his Rajasthan counterpart Vasundhara Raje Scindia called on Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to mourn the death of his mother Raj mat a Mo hinder Kaur.
Raje and Virbhadra reached the New Moti Bagh Palace in around 1pm and spent nearly two hours with Amarinder and conveyed to members of the erstwhile Patiala royal family their deepest sympathies and condolences. Former Union minister Natwar Singh was also present.
Daughter of Virbhadra, scion of Himachal Pradesh’s erstwhile royal state of Rampur Bushahr, is married to Amarinder’s grandson.
Meanwhile, prominent personalities, politicians, religious leaders, including Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for mer president Av tar Singh Makkar, Namdharisect head Satguru Thakur Dalip Singh, former Akali ministers Hira Singh Gabria and Daljit Singh Cheema, former BJP minister Manoranjan Kalia, Akali leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal and Budha Dal chief Balbir Singh, called on the CM. Bureaucrats and industrialists, including SP Oswal of Vardhman Group of Companies, Kamal Oswal of Nahar Group of Companies and Rajinder Gupta of Trident Group also visited the New Moti Bagh Palace to express their condolences.
A “shabad kirtan” was held at the palace in the evening to pray for the departed soul.
The “bhog” ceremony with “antim ardas” will be held at the palace on Sunday from noon to 1.30pm.
