THE TWO GIRLS WERE ALLEGEDLY LURED TO DELHI BY TWO MEN ON THE PRETEXT OF GOOD JOBS AND A COMFORTABLE LIFE

NEWDELHI: Two minor girls from Assam, aged 12 and 13 years, were allegedly lured to Delhi by two men on the pretext of good jobs and a comfortable life. What awaited the girls in Delhi, however, was nothing short of a nightmare.

The men sold the girls for ₹20,000 each to a man named Muhajid alias Surya, who ran a prostitution racket from his home in Delhi’s Rohini Sector 26. Apart from doing household works at Muhajid’s home, the girls were forced to have sex with two to three men everyday for more than two months.

Muhajid was allegedly planning to sell them off to another prostitution syndicate. But a crime branch team was tippedoff about his plans. On Wednesday, the police arrested Mujahid in northeast Delhi while he was on his way with the girls to his clients and rescued the two minors.

Madhur Verma, deputy commissioner of police (crime branch), said that the girls were kidnapped on May 11 from their hometown in Hojai, Assam, by two men Akbar Ali and Ismail, who had befriended them a few months ago. “Ali and Ismail had offered the girls their assistance in getting them jobs with handsome salaries in Delhi,” said Verma. Both Ali and ismail are on the run.

The four reached Delhi in May this year. Ali and Ismail first put the girls up in a rented accommodation. He later handed them over to Mujahid after telling them that he would provide them employment. Mujahid brought the girls to his home in a resettlement colony in Rohini Sector 26 and confined them there. He then allegedly forced the girls into sex trade.

“Whenever the girls protested or resisted, Mujahid threatened to kill them and their family,” said an officer. Most of the times, Mujahid’s clients used to visit his home and rape the girls, the officer said.

The interrogation of Mujahid has revealed that he entered the flesh trade business some four years ago and began supplying girls for prostitution. In 2014, he was arrested for raping a trafficked girl. “Mujahid remained in jail for two years. But after being bailed out, he continued his illegal trade,” said the DCP.
