3 held at IGI airport for smuggling agarwood
NEW DELHI: Three persons were arrested from the IGI airport in New Delhi on Thursday on charges of trying to smuggle out 71 kilograms of agarwood.
“We had very specific information about the accused persons, including their photographs. They had boarded the flight from Guwahati and were heading for Kuwait via Delhi and Mumbai,” said a senior official of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.
A raid was conducted by the WCCB and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and three persons – Md Samsul Islam, Md Helal Uddin and Mohibur Rehman - were arrested. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the trio have been to Kuwait earlier at least three to four times each with agarwood. HTC
