Panchayats to lease land for cow grazing

-

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government on Tuesday said panchayats in the state will take cow grazing land on lease and use it for cattle protection and conservation. This decision is aimed at dealing with the problem of crowded cow shelters in the state and the rising incidents of stray cows being killed. Tuesday’s decision also addresses the demand raised by Sant Gopal Dass, who in Rohtak sat on a hunger strike demanding to hand over ‘gauchar bhoomi’ (pasture land) in villages to develop gaushalas and grazing grounds for cows.
