CBI court discharges IPS officers Vanzara, Dinesh
MUMBAI: A special CBI court discharged two senior I PS officers— DGV anzara and Dinesh MN—in the Sohra buddin Sheikh and Tulsiram P raj a pa ti‘ encounter’ cases on Tuesday, observing that “they just did their job”.
With this, the Mumbai court has so far discharged 15 people accused in the two cases.
While discharging Vanzara, former DIG of ATS Gujarat, and Di ne sh, former superintendent of police, Rajasthan, special CBI judge Sunilkumar Sharma observed, “There is no prima facie material against the accused to connect them to the abduction followed by killing of Shaikh Kausar Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati, none the less as one of the main conspirator.”
The court further held that the prosecution had also not whispered about the presence of two officers at the spot on the date and time of abduction and killing of the trio.
As per the allegation made by the central agency, the two were the key conspirators in the case.
The agency alleged that Vanzara was in constant touch with the officers who were part of the team that abducted So hr a budd in and later took him to a farm in Ahmedabad. The prosecution alleged that Sohrabuddin was killed in the fake encounter and later, some officers also eliminated Kausar Bi on Vanzara’s instructions. The agency alleged that Vanzara was at the spot when Kausar Bi’ s body was burnt and disposed of.
However, the special CB I court ruled out the allegation and observed :“There is absolutely no iota of material as when where and who killed Kausar Bi. There is also no material collected from the spot like sand, ash etc to say that dead body was burnt. It was obligatory for the investigating agency to collect such material to establish the story of burning the dead body in the bed of the said river”. The court also ruled out Vanzara’s involvement in the Prajapati case.
