Tribunal gives ₹41L to family of man killed in accident

THANE: An accident claims tribunal has awarded a compensati­on of ₹41.16 lakh to the family of an engineer who died in an accident in 2013.

Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal member and district judge KD Vadane directed the owner of the offending vehicle and Reliance General Insurance Company Limited to jointly and severally pay the compensati­on to the claimants — the wife and two minor sons of the deceased.

The claim ants’ counsel, Ram C Yadav, said Brajesh Tripathi, then aged 37, worked as a junior engineer with a steel manufactur­ing company inneighb our ing Raigad district. He met with an accident on February 23, 2013 when he was on his way home at New Panvel in Raigad. A trailer coming from behind hit his motorcycle near Palaspe village on Goa-Panvel road, killing him on the spot.
