Fastway: Sidhu ups ante, puts onus on Amarinder
CHANDIGARH: Upping the ante against Fastway and chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh as well, local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu sought an audit of the company for the past 10 years, on Wednesday. He claimed that the company had not paid taxes of Rs 20,000 crore. Without naming anyone, he called the present government “kamzor” (weak), two days ahead of a Cabinet meeting on August 4.
CHANDIGARH: The finance department of Punjab released ₹20.30 cr or east he first inst al men to ft he compensation for widows of mart yrs of 1962,1965 and 1971 wars, on Wednesday. The compensation was released to the dependents of martyrs and disabled soldiers.
The move will provide relief to 125 families, who have been fighting for compensation for the past 41 years, since government dis- continuedits policy of allot ting 10 acre to martyrs’ families, in 1976.
While 1,500 families had availed benefits of the earlier policy, 125 were left out.
As per decision taken by CM Captain Amarinder Singh, each family will receive a compensation of ₹50 lakh, to be paid in three instalments —first instalment of ₹20 lakh, and two instalments of ₹15 lakh each.
