FIVE HELD WITH WEAPONS, GANG BUSTED

MOGA: With the arrest of five persons on Wednesday, the district police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers involved in many loot and robbery incidents.

Arrested accused are Onkar Singh and Pritam Singh alias Pintu (both of Jita Singh Wala village), Satikar Singh (of Kottla Rai Ka village), Mandeep Singh alias Deepa (of Samalsar) and Dilpreet Singh (of Mardi Mustaffa). Police recovered three .32 bore pistols, two .12 bore pistols and one .315 bore pistol and 16 live cartridges from their possession.

Accused Sukhraj Singh, of Alamwala, managed to escape. Superinten­dent of police (SP investigat­ion) Wazir Singh said that they got a tip-off that some miscreants are gathered at Bridge Canal at Channu Wala village and are planning a robbery.

“Following the informatio­n, we raided the area and arrested five accused. One managed to flee the spot,” he said. He said that they are conducting raids to nab the absconder. More revelation­s are expected to come out during the interrogat­ion.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under Sections 399 (making preparatio­n to commit dacoity) and 402 (assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25,27-54-59 of the Arms Act at Baghapuran­a police station.
