Milling policy after meeting stakeholde­rs, says Amarinder

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Captain Am arin der Singh has assured rice millers that the custom milling policy for the next year will be formulated only after considerin­g the view so falls take-holders concerned.

The CM gave the assurance to a delegation of the Rice Millers Associatio­n( Pb ), led by its president G ian Chand Bhardwaj, that called on hi ma this official residence on Wednesday. Am arin der also promised to ensure uninterrup­ted quality power supply at Rs 5 per unit to all rice milling units, and assured the millers that their problems would be examined by the government.

The delegation lauded several “notable decisions” of the Am arin der government, including the decision to freeze power tariff at Rs 5 per unit, which they said would enable the sector to complete with units in other states.

They also hailed the decision to abolish truck unions, which had been made a“source of business” by the previous SAD-B JP government. The move will help the government save around Rs 2000 crore, they said.
