LAWYERS’ PANEL SET UP TO FIGHT ‘REPRESSION’ AGAINST AKALIS

CHANDIGARH: Stepping up its campaign against the alleged repression on its workers, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday set up a panel of senior advocates of the Punjab and Haryana high court as well as lawyers from lower courts to ensure that the erring police officials are made to face the law of the land.

Former CM Parkash Singh Badal set up the panel after holding consultations with advocates as part of its ‘Jabar Virodhi Lehar’ to fight “repression” by the Congress regime. The SAD has also started a helpline and a website, which can be accessed at akalivakil.com. Party spokesperson Harcharan Bains alleged that the Congress has unleashed a wave of repression and vendetta against innocent Akali workers.
