SIKHS DESERVE RESPECT, NOT DISCRIMINATION

Apropos ‘Ban on Sikh symbols...’ (Aug 2), the Modi government is going the whole hog in forging new relations with other countries of the world. However, atrocities on Sikhs just based on their identity keep pouring in. More recently, the reported ban on wearing/carrying symbols of Sikh faith in some of the countries is more shocking than surprising. The Indian government needs to raise the issue. The world community needs to wake up and mull over measures to rein in the rising incidents of crime against the community, which always contributes to the integrated growth of the country they live in. The Indian government must ensure that the Sikh community and others are not subjected to any discrimination
