BCCI meet set to discuss women’s domestic structure, hike match fees

MUMBAI: Impressed with the performance of the Indian women’s cricket team, the Supreme Courtappointed Committee of Administrators( Co A) is expected top rep area road map for the World Cup finalists as well as the domestic players when it meets in New Delhi on August 8 and 9.

The women’s domestic calendar, which used to last less than two months a year, is likely to be expanded as the CoA and BCCI plan to introduce 90-over (twoday) games. Currently, women cricketers play only 50-over and T20 matches at domestic level.

HIKEIN MATCHFEES

A hike in match fees across all age-groups for both men and women will also be considered. The domestic cricketers have demanded a substantial increase in match fees, which was last reviewed in 2007. Also, the implementation of the Deloitte and Lodha Committee reports is likely to take up quite some time. The two-member Co A will evaluate the funding and auditing process( for BCCI and state associations) drafted by Deloitte.

ZAHEER RELUCTANT

Hindustan Times has learnt that Zaheer Khan is unlikely to commit to the India bowling consultant’s role. Although the former India pace spearhead has not conv eyed anything officially to BC CI or CoA, sources close to the player said he is not interested in the job. If Zaheer accepts the BCCI offer, he would have to forego his IPL contract and role as TV commentator to avoid conflict of interest. India head coach Ravi Sh as tri has roped in B ha rat Arun as bowling coach, a post first offered to Zaheer by the Cricket Advisory Committee. Sh as tri has made it clear to BC CI that Zaheer’s services might be required for 15 to 20 days a year.
