MO GA: The district administration has denied a police job to younger brother of SepoyJa spree tS ingh, who was killed in shelling by Pakistani forces in Nowshera sector in J& K on July 18, saying he is not eligible for the constable’s post.

Chief minister Captain Am arin der Singh had announced ₹10 lakh financial assistance to the family and a job to Jaspreet’s brother Kul deep Singh ,23, who is a Class-12 passout. Instead of a job in the police department, Mo ga deputy commissioner( DC) Dilraj Singh offered Kuldeep a peon’ s job .“I met the DC to seek a job, but he had denied it saying I did not meet the education qualification eligibility and can only apply for a peon’s post,” Kuldeep told HT, adding :“The DC told me to complete graduation if I wanted to join the police force.”

However, a senior police official said a Class-12 passout is eligible for the constable post. Even in the recent Punjab Police recruitments, the minimum educational qualification for con stable was Class 12, said the official. The DC also said Kuldeepwa snot even eligible for the clerk’s post.

When HT contacted the DC and apprised him about the recent constable recruitments, he told the correspondent to contact the SSP. When HT again contacted the DC, he said :“I have checked with high-ups in Chandigarh and Kuldeep is eligible for the constable’s post. I will pursue his case.”

SS PR ajJ it Singh said Kul deep was eligible for the constable’s post and will be given the job on priority. Kuldeep said the family was dependent on Jaspreet’s income. “I cannot afford to pursue graduation,” said Kuldeep.
