Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib land scam: SGPC forms panel

AMRITSAR: Following theorderso­f Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission in case of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib land scam, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Comm it tee(SGPC)p resident Ki rpal Singh Ba dun ga r has setup an eight-member committee to probe into the matter on Wednesday.

The commission had summoned five senior SGPC members and five employees on August 19 in connection with the scam.

The commission had also directed the SGPC chief to set up a probe panel to look into the matter and submit the report within two months in a sealed envelope.

The probe committee comprises of SGPC senior vice-president Baldev Singh Kayampur, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, executive members Nirmal Singh Hariao, Surjit Singh Kala b ula, Kul want Singh Man an, Ranjit Ka ur Ma hilp ur, secretary Ro op Sing hand additional secretary( co or di nat or)Sak attar Singh.

The move has reflected the SGPC chief’s seriousnes­s as key SGPC office bearers have been inducted in the committee. Leader of opposition in executive panel Surjit Singh Kalabula, associated to Simranjit Singh Mann-led Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), was also present.

Badungar said, “The probe panel will surely submit its report within two months as the apex gurdwara body is bound to do so as per the commission’s order.”

The orders came on August 5 in response to a petition filed by Amritsar Sikh activist Baldev Singh Sirsa.
