SOLIDER, WOMAN KILLED IN PAK FIRING IN POONCH

JAMMU: A soldier and a woman were killed in firing by Pakistani troops in Poonch’s Mendhar and Krishna Ghatti sector on Saturday. “Pakistan army initiated unprovoked firing on our posts in KG sector around 5 pm. In the exchange of fire, Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar was martyered,” said an army spokesman. In Mendhar, a 40-year-old woman was killed when a shell landed in her courtyard and exploded. ››

JAMMU: Close on the heels of the death of a woman in Mendhar area on Saturday morning, an Indian soldier died in Pakistan firing in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector around 5pm. The deceased has been identified as Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar. “Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in KG sector at around 1700 hours on Saturday. The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectivel­y,” said an Army spokesman.

In the exchange of fire, Naib Tomar was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries, he added. Tomar, aged 42, belonged to village Tarsana in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. He is survived by his wife Omavati Devi, a son, and a daughter. “Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar was a brave and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,”

TOMAR, 42, BELONGED TO VILLAGE TARSANA IN MORENA DISTRICT OF MADHYA PRADESH. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OMAVATI DEVI, A SON, AND A DAUGHTER.
